In the early hours of Saturday morning, a devastating car crash in central Minnesota left one man dead and four others injured. The Minnesota State Patrol has revealed details about the sequence of events leading up to the fatal collision.
Just after one o'clock in the morning, a 2018 Infinity Q50 being driven at high speeds by 23-year-old Hunter Michael Buckentine of Clear Lake was seen traveling along Highway 10 in Clear Lake Township. The speeding Infiniti slammed into the back of a Chevy Cobalt driven by 34-year-old Lindsey Kay Soiseth of Lake Lillian.
The impact from the Infiniti caused Soiseth's Cobalt to be knocked off the road and into a ditch, where it rolled multiple times. At the same time, the Infiniti went off the road and hit the tree line. Tragically, 34-year-old Jordan Dennis Kramer of Clarissa, who was a passenger in the Cobalt, died at the scene from his injuries sustained in the crash. According to the state patrol, he had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Remarkably, Buckentine, the driver responsible for the collision, escaped with only minor injuries. He and his passenger, 21-year-old Trenton Christopher Michels, did not require hospitalization despite being hurt.
While Buckentine avoided serious injury, 38-year-old Candice Carmen Pooler, another passenger in the Cobalt, was seriously injured in the crash. She was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of her wounds. Like Kramer, Pooler had also not been wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
At this time, it is still unknown whether Buckentine had been wearing a seat belt or if he was under the influence of alcohol when the collision took place. The accident remains under investigation to determine further details.
In response to the devastating crash, multiple agencies provided assistance at the scene. The Life Link helicopter, Clear Lake Fire, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all mobilized to aid victims and investigate the collision.
While the investigation continues, the local community is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Jordan Kramer. Described by loved ones as kindhearted and deeply caring, Kramer leaves behind grieving family and friends struggling to process this sudden tragedy. His death serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the danger of reckless driving.
This devastating car crash is a reminder for us all to cherish each moment with our loved ones. The risks of speeding and distracted driving can have fatal consequences, as sadly proven true this weekend in Minnesota. As we keep the victims and their families in our thoughts during this difficult time, we must also reflect on how such tragedies can be prevented in the future. By driving safely and looking out for one another, we can work to ensure no more lives are cut tragically short.
